You may have arrived here because you are searching for something about our District or you may have landed here by chance. We hope that the information in these pages is of interest, giving as it does a snapshot of some of our activities and relationships. However, it cannot be as good as actually visiting the area and seeing for yourself this beautiful part of God’s world, and catching a glimpse of the work of Methodists here, witnessing alongside other Christians locally and throughout the world.

A letter to Queen Elizabeth on the occasion of her 90th birthday from the President and Vice President of the Methodist Church

Her Majesty The Queen

Buckingham Palace

London SW1A 1AA

On behalf of the members and friends of the Methodist Church in Britain, may we offer you our sincere and warmest wishes on the occasion of your 90th birthday?

We thank God for your years of service, and also thank you for writing about your faith in The Servant Queen.

We join in your prayer that God will continue to give you wisdom and the strength to carry out your work, and to serve Him and your people in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth.

Our head of Discipleship and Ministries, Jude Levermore, serves on the leadership board of HOPE, and we have been able to give a copy of The Servant Queen to all children in Methodist schools.

Through our Methodist Forces Board, and its good relations with the chaplaincies of the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and British Army, we are also supporting HOPE in making copies of the book available to as many members of your armed forces as possible.

We have also shared details about The Servant Queen and its resources throughout our Connexion.

May we finally wish you every blessing for your private and public celebrations later this month and in June?

We have the honour to be, Madam, Your Majesty's humble and obedient servants.

 The Revd Steven Wild

President of the Methodist Conference

 Dr Jill Barber

Vice-President of the Methodist Conference
