.Projects
The two projects chosen by Anne Kirkman are a little different to previous ones. The overseas one is to provide some support for a European Methodist Church in Serbia. We were privileged to meet Liljana when she came to stay at Beverley for a short time after the World Federation Conference in Glasgow last year. Her husband is a Methodist minister and they hoped to turn the roof space of their church into some accommodation where folk could gather for training and fellowship weekends – no such facilities exist among the 14 churches that make up Serbian Methodism. The money we raise will first of all help to fit out a kitchen and the rest help with the fitting out of the bedrooms.
The home project is based on Askham Grange Women’s Open Prison and several groups have already been there to share in craft workshops with the women. Card making has been very popular but crocheting, knitting and other craft ideas are appreciated.
